Alex Unreich (Enright) – WWII Army Vet and More
Thanks to a conversation in April of 2019 with one of Alex’s two children, his daughter Teresa (Claudette) Tiomkin (Enright), shared some incredible details about Alex. Alex was born in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia in 1909 and died in 2002. Alex enlisted in US Army in WWII in 1941 and was an Army Intelligence Staff Sargent in the 2nd Armored Division. The 2nd Armored Division played an important role during World War II. Alex volunteered to join the US Army, but supposedly due to his actual age at the time, he modified his date of birth and fabricated his record from 1905 to 1909. Prior to immigrating to the US, Alex also served in the Czechoslovakia Army in the Ski Troops division. He felt very comfortable serving and was very passionate about his countries with a desire to give back. Similar to his athletic siblings that were very involved in youth sports, Alex was remembered for serving as a wrestling referee in Czechoslovakia. By trade, Alex was a salesperson. For most of his professional life, he worked in the furniture wholesale business working for different manufactures, selling furniture from the South all the way up the East Coast to New York.
